Tiretown Members Participate in the Back to School Carnival at Buchtel CLC
In an effort to continue its heightened role within Akron Public Schools, Tiretown Golf Club participated in the Back to School Carnival at Buchtel CLC for the second year in a row on Aug. 22.
The event allowed Tiretown the opportunity to inform and educate both junior and high school students about the mission and rich history of the largest Black golf club in the United States. Nine students joined Tiretown Junior Golf Club, bringing the club’s total to more than 50 members.
A special thank you to our members who volunteered — William Preston, Willie McCall, Fund Development co-chair Marilyn Miller Paulk, Volunteer Committee chair Dwayne Jackson, Vice President Michael Robinson, and Junior Committee co-chair Cynthia Blake.
Tiretown’s participation is an example of its commitment to education and having a positive influence within the Akron Public Schools community. We hope to participate in similar programs at all of the city’s public schools.
