Tiretown’s Swing, Sip and Socialize event at Golf Galaxy attracted more than 50 people despite rain and competing events.
The Fund Development Committee organized the event and partnered with Golf Galaxy on Cleveland Massillon Road. It was the committee’s goal of reaching out to golfers of all levels.
The focus was to introduce more ladies to the game of golf. There were prizes, discounts, shopping, food and free golf lessons from PGA professionals. Also, there were three tables set up for free stretching sessions by Stretch Lab, which had a free drawing for a chance to win a stretch session at their facility on West Market Street.
Everyone received a welcome gift bag, which included golf balls and shopping discounts.
Gift baskets were raffled off with two lucky winners, Camille Maxwell and Marietta Goodman. Each basket was packed with a free round of golf at Mud Run for four golfers, a $45 gift certificate from Golf Galaxy, a woman’s stroke/score counter bracelet, woman’s brim golf hat, pair of golf socks, UV arm protector arm sleeves, a bottle of wine, 12 Top Flight glossy golf balls, a woman’s rain jacket and a stretch lab gift certificate for a free stretch session.
Our co-sponsor, Golf Galaxy, helped provide refreshments and golf balls.
There was also a scavenger hunt.
“The intention of the scavenger hunt was to familiarize golfers with some of the basic equipment needed when they began to play golf, and also familiarize them with the layout of the store,” said Bryant, co-chair Tiretown’s Fund Development Committee.
Thanks to the Fund Development team (Gwen Bryant, Kelly Edwards, Darlene Elliott, Theresa Fennell, Glynis Miller-Mitchell, Marilyn Miller Paulk) for all their hard work in helping to make the event successful.
Our next event is scheduled for July 13 at Mud Run from 3 to 6pm. There will be vendors, a PGA professional to give free golf lessons and putting lessons by Golf Galaxy.
