Tiretown Youth & Volunteer Outing News

First, I want to thank all the juniors and parents who attended the first-ever Tiretown Golf Club/First Tee of Greater Akron Registration Event at Mud Run Golf Course on Saturday. We are blessed to have 23 Tiretown Youth Golf Club members – including 10 new members this year. Seventeen youth members registered Saturday for the 2022 First Tee spring sessions. As a reminder, if you are interested in enrolling your child, grandchild or relative in the First Tee program and the Tiretown youth program, please contact me before this Thursday, which is the first day First Tee registration is open to the public. Also, thanks to the Tiretown members who participated in the event: VP Michael Robinson, Social Committee Chair Ted DuBose, Fund Development co-chair Marilyn Miller Paulk, Secretary Les Carney and Membership Committee Chair Terry Felton. In addition, thanks to club members Michael Goode, DeAndre Walker, Carol Miller, Lisa Dunlap and Nicole Holmes – all of whom are parents of youth members. Again, our appreciation to executive director Jeff O’Brien and his staff for taking time to accommodate our junior members. We look forward to a great 2022 with First Tee, which includes our junior event at Mud Run on Sept. 17.

72ND TIRETOWN GOLF CLUB SCHOLARSHIP TOURNAMENT

In the coming months, we will focus greatly on the 72nd annual scholarship tournament, which will be held July 9 at Good Park Golf Course. If you’re interested in working with the tournament committee, please contact tournament director Clarence Mitchell, Jr.

SENIOR PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP VOLUNTEERS AT FIRESTONE CC

As we discussed during last month’s club meeting, all members who are interested in volunteering for the Senior Players Championship in July should let me know as soon as possible. Danielle Thompson, a representative of Northern Ohio Golf Charities, will speak during our April meeting to answer any other questions you might have about volunteering for the tournament.

TIRETOWN FEATURED ON WE THE PEOPLE ON WKYC/CHANNEL 3

As Tiretown Golf Club members, you all should be proud of your efforts the past few years. You have done much for the community while continuing to support a growing scholarship program and an expanding youth program. For those reasons, Tiretown will be featured this Friday, March 11, on the WKYC broadcast of We The People.
